Frequently asked questions
What is the NEET exam pattern?
NEET has 180 compulsory questions — 45 in Physics, 45 in Chemistry, and 90 in Biology — over 3 hours, for a total of 720 marks. The optional-question format used during the COVID years has been retired.
Is there negative marking in NEET?
Yes. Each correct answer earns +4 marks and each wrong answer deducts 1 mark, so accuracy matters as much as coverage.
How important is Biology in NEET?
Biology is half the paper — 90 of the 180 questions — split across Botany and Zoology. It is the highest-weight section in the exam.
Which syllabus does NEET follow?
NCERT Class 11 + 12 is the gold-standard syllabus; most questions track the NCERT text line by line across Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
What can I study with a NEET score?
NEET is the single national entrance for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, veterinary, and allied health programs across India. It is a pen-and-paper test conducted by the NTA, with counselling centralised through MCC and state authorities.
